Consumer was inspired much like the other consuming songs (Can Man, Hype etc) after shopping in the shopping Malls exploding in Chatswood in the early 80's. Chatswood, near where we lived, was the fastest growing commercial area in Australia!

One day there was a lovely old park and next week it was a five story Mall.

Tony Packard was selling his "Let me do it right for you!" TV ads. Everywhere you turned it was all BUY BUY BUY, and not that it's any different now but at that time it was all exploding in our faces.

Notes:
- This track was originally called Modus Operandi but that was too obscure and went weird in the mix. The new chorus was written a few years later but never recorded. For this release I just quickly over-dubbed the new chorus. It's clunky but you get the idea.

- Harry and Mary really were our next door neighbours.

- The clickety-clack sound was me drumming an over-dub at the time playing the drum stick on the rim of the snare drum.
